Rising Hope is a small family-style community on a little wild farm in Suffolk

Emmanuel Fire

We meet at each month to share food, fellowship and stories round the fire.  Contact Sarah Merritt for more details.

Retreats

We love to welcome visitors and they always go away refreshed, having appreciated the peace of nature and the grace of community. So we thought we would like to share this more widely and have more people to stay on "retreat".

Everyone's expectations and needs from a retreat are different, so we will make a plan with each person at the beginning which will shape their experience.

The community shares three good meals a day in the farmhouse kitchen. Before breakfast and lunch we stop for 15 minutes of quiet together, and we aim to do something creative in the afternoon or evening, whether art, craft, music making, or just doing a jigsaw together!

Guests can choose to get involved in the gentle activities of the farm, for instance in the veg garden, feeding the chickens, grooming the horses or harvesting fruit, or they can simply enjoy exploring the wildflowers and ancient oaks or sit in the secluded garden listening to the birds.

We have two lovely double rooms in the medieval farmhouse, one of which has an ensuite shower room, the other is next to a shared bathroom.

If you want to chat during your visit, or if you want some thoughtful content, I can be available! I am an active Quaker and also an Anglican lay pioneer minister (and a midwife!). I have a varied church background and appreciate that everyone's spiritual journey is different. I am a good listener and accompanier and love to help people explore their thoughts, especially using the "Out of the Box" storytelling model, which can be used with Bible stories or other wisdom, or simply to help us reflect.

We would love to welcome you, to share this little bit of God's kingdom with you.

Prices and booking

If you are interested just drop Sara an email at risinghoperooms@gmail.com. or WhatsApp message on 07504 412420.

Our retreat rooms are available for a basic price of £100 per night, full board., but we are happy to offer concessions to those who need it. We are also pleased to accept donations if you are able to pay a little more towards our concession fund. At Rising Hope everyone contributes what they can to our common life, and we share what we have.

We don't want cost to be a barrier for guests, so if your situation is such that cost may be an issue, please make Sara aware of this on booking.

Children

We do not usually have children as visitors as this is primarily an adult space. However, we do love children so we can sometimes make exceptions!

Pets / Animals

We have resident cats, dogs, chickens and horses and really can't fit visiting animals in alongside them, sorry!
