ADVENTure Day 2
Who are you becoming? The word “becoming” reminds us that none of us have “made it”.
“It is not that I have already reached the goal, or have already become perfect, but I do press on to grasp it. That was Christ’s purpose when he made me his own.” Philippians 3.12
We are being formed throughout our lives: – Our habits, the stories we believe and tell, and the people with whom we spend our time are all instrumental in this.
“Becoming disciples” is one of the core areas of practice in the Lightwave community. A Lightwave group may include people who are taking their very first steps in following Jesus and those who have sought to follow for many years. All of us are still being formed: How does this look in practice?
- We seek to grow in the good habits which enable us to grow in love.
- We attend to the story God tells us in the scriptures for it to form our world view.
- We seek the influence of people who will encourage us in God’s ways and we seek to listen to God himself
Through these simple things, we seek to put ourselves in the place where God can help us to become who he has called us to be.
Dear Lord Jesus
Thank you for the reminder that you have not finished your work in me yet.
Help me to make space for your work through the habits I grow, the stories I live by and the people who influence me.
By your work in me – I may become the loving disciple you see in me.
