Lightwave ADVENTure - Day 5 - Encountering God
It is only God who changes people. We can plan the greatest church activities, but if we don’t make space for God to do His thing, then it is all a bit pointless.
We can encounter God in many ways – in the bread and wine of the eucharist, in silence, in words of scripture, in the kindness of a friend or stranger.
“O taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the person who trusts in Him” Psalm 34.8
God is always there for us – but often we are too busy, or too distracted to notice him.
When we meet as a Lightwave group, this is a key question. Are we encountering God? Or are we having such good studies and discussions and social activities, that time to meet the living God is pushed to the margins?
There is a part of each one of us, that is understandably resistant to encountering God – He is the awesome creator of the universe after all. He is utterly pure and holy and there is no hiding from him. No wonder, if we don’t always want to face all this.
But encountering God is also marvellous and healing and joyful and transforming.
So, we are learning to live in expectation that God’s presence is very near – if we just notice a little, we will bump into Him and that is so good for us and for all our loved ones.
Lord Jesus Make me ready to notice when I encounter you today. Amen
